Senators up for election:
Senator Malarndirri McCarthy (Labor)
Senator Dr Sam McMahon (Liberal Democrats)
Comment:
The Northern Territory has elected one Country Liberal and one Labor Senator at every election
since 1975, and will do so again this year. In 2019 the CLP polled 1.10 quotas and Labor polled 1.12 quotes. The Greens were a distant third with
0.31 quptas. Labor Senator Malarndirri McCarthy will be re-elected. In June the CLP disendorsed their troubled first-term Senator Dr Samantha (Sam)
McMahon, replacing her with Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, the deputy mayor of Alice Springs, who is assured of election. McMahon will stand as a
Liberal Democrats candidate.
