There are no formal political parties in Iran. These party labels
have been assigned to candidates by media reports. Mousavi was an
independent candidate generally regarded as a reformer. Razaee was
an independent generally regarded as a conseravtive.

These results have been widely regarded as fraudulent both inside 
and outside Iran. They conflict with the results of opinion polls
taken shortly before the election, which showed Moussavi leading 
by a wide margin.
