    Eastern Metropolitan Region

The Eastern Metropolitan Region takes in an expanse of mostly middle-class suburbs running from Heidelberg in the north-west to Ferntree Gully in the south-east. Of the eleven lower house seast that make up the Region, only two (Eltham and Ivanhoe) are held by Labor. At the 2006 and 2010 elections, the Region returned three Liberal and two Labor members. In 2014 Labor lost its second seat to the Greens. It seems likely that the Liberals will again win three seats, so the only possible change is that Labor could regain its seat from the Greens.

Mary Wooldridge is Leader of the Liberal Party and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, and Shadow Minister for Health. She would be a senior minister in a Coalition government. Bruce Atkinson, the longest-serving member of the Legislative Council, is the Council's President and will probably remain so in the next Parliament.
