QUEENSLAND ==================================================================== LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ==================================================================== THE THIRD PARLIAMENT ELECTED 18 JUNE TO 19 JULY 1867 ==================================================================== The Third Parliament was opened on 7 August 1867 and dissolved on 27 August 1868. Sources -------------------------------------------------------------------- * Voting figures are from newspaper reports (mainly the "Brisbane Courier"). * Dates of nomination and polling are from the "Queensland Government Gazette." * Candidates' given names and biographies are from newspaper reports, the "Queensland Government Gazette" and the Queensland Parliament website. * The principal polling places for each electorate are from the "Queensland Government Gazette". Some polling places served more than one electorate. Summary -------------------------------------------------------------------- After the election Arthur Macalister decided that he did not have enough support to continue in office. Robert Mackenzie then formed a ministry. His government was dominated by the grazier interest and its land laws proved unpopular. In August 1868 he was defeated in the Assembly and obtained an early dissolution.
